The Norfolk Airport Authority has updated the Master Plan for Norfolk International Airport (ORF) to account for changes at the Airport, in the aviation industry, and in the region since the Airport’s 2008 Master Plan. The Master Plan Update (MPU) has been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Virginia Department of Aviation and includes projects that will extend the useful life and value of the Airport to meet the air transportation needs of the region over the next 20 years. Highlights include: addition of a third concourse, reconstruction of existing concourses so all travelers proceed through a single security area, General Aviation/FBO expansion, new consolidated rental car facilities, reconfigured roadways to improve traffic circulation, expansion of the air cargo facilities, and airfield improvements. A future new parallel runway also is included in the Airport Layout Plan though it is not projected to be needed for capacity during this 20 year planning period.
